Critics who’d said that the Leicester City players were pining for former boss Claudio Ranieri to be sacked were seemingly proved right, as the Foxes demolished Liverpool 3-1 in the Premier League.
Leicester played with passion, speed, fluidity, determination and spirit – all of which had been clearly lacking in recent weeks – as they recorded their first league win of 2017.
Players who’d been MIA suddenly returned with aplomb, as Danny Drinkwater – who’s been awful all season – scored his first of the campaign, while Jamie Vardy also bagged a brace.
Granted, Liverpool had a makeshift back four – with Lucas Leiva slotting in at centre half – and their high line played straight into Leicester’s hands, but footballing purists will be finding that performance hard to take.

In the seven weeks of 2017 prior to this match, Leicester didn’t come remotely close to playing like that for their former boss, adding fuel to the several rumours of players approaching directors at the club regarding Ranieri’s future, as mentioned by sources such as The Sun.
Foxes fans won’t care if the club stay up this season – that win took them out of the relegation zone to 15th, two points clear of the drop zone – but it certainly makes you question just how much power players have.
