The Leicester defender has been in top form recently for The Foxes whilst Jordan Amavi has been good in his debut season.
The Premier League is now five games old and whilst things are still in their early days, as clear from the fact Chelsea are currently hovering above the relegation zone, plenty of other places in the league are starting to look like the norm.
So what can we tell from the statistics after just five games?
For instance, who have been the best tacklers in the Premier League this campaign?
Interestingly Leicester City have been praised for their attacking this season, but it is a Foxes defender who is the best tackler in the league.
| Position | Team | Won Tackle | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ritchie de Laet | DF | Leicester | 21 | 5 | 410 |
| Jordan Amavi | DF | Aston Villa | 19 | 5 | 450 |
| Francis Coquelin | MF | Arsenal | 19 | 5 | 384 |
| Patrick van Aanholt | DF | Sunderland | 18 | 5 | 450 |
| Simon Francis | DF | Bournemouth | 16 | 5 | 450 |
| Nyom | DF | Watford | 16 | 5 | 450 |
Belgian Manchester United graduate Ritchie De Laet has been the best tackler in the league this season and his form has certainly been terrific this term as Leicester continue their excellent start to the season.
There are some other interesting players in the list, including one from Aston Villa. Jordan Amavi arrived at Villa from Nice this summer, for a fee reported by the Daily Mail to be in the region of £9 million, so it is great to see him high up the list.
Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is also present. The Frenchman has recently become a first-team regular and his harder presence in the heart of midfield has certainly improved Arsenal in recent times.
Meanwhile Patrick van Aanholt, who has been criticised for his performances at Sunderland this season, is also present along with Allan Nyom and Simon Francis at newly promoted Watford and Bournemouth.
After five games a Leicester man leads the way and Foxes fans will hope he keeps up his good form for the rest of the campaign.
