Leicester City are reportedly planning to secure the services of former Liverpool man Mohamed Sissoko.
According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Premier League champions Leicester City are currently considering a surprise swoop for Mohamed Sissoko.
Leicester City claimed the Premier League title against all odds last season but not many expect the champions to replicate their fantastic exploits during the current campaign.
While Leicester have strengthened their squad significantly over the summer, they have made a stuttering start to the season so far and a top-four finish might be a more realistic ambition for Claudio Ranieri’s men this term.
Now according to reports emerging out of Italy, it has been claimed that Ranieri is looking to further improve his ranks to boost Leicester’s chances of earning a Champions League finish, and that the Italian manager is currently considering a move for former Liverpool man Mohamed Sissoko.
Sissoko is currently a free agent after being released by Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua over the summer and he had joined West Bromwich Albion on trial recently.
However, Sissoko failed to earn a permanent deal with the Baggies and the future of the 31-year-old remains unclear at the moment.
In surprise claims from Calcio Mercato, Leicester City have been mentioned as a possible destination for the midfielder.
The report states that Ranieri, as well as the Foxes’ Head of Senior Player Recruitment Eduardo Macia, is a keen admirer of Sissoko and Leicester could well hand the Mali international a contract in the coming days.
Ranieri has worked with Sissoko previously at Valencia and Juventus, and the midfielder could prove to be a decent signing for Leicester, especially as he is currently available on a free transfer.
