Leicester City continued their mini resurgence with a 2-0 Premier League triumph over Sunderland.

Leicester City recorded their sixth consecutive victory to maintain Craig Shakespeare’s 100% record since taking the reigns at the King Power Stadium – in the process, helping the Foxes to a much more comfortable end of season run-in than perhaps anticipated just a matter of weeks ago.
After a relatively drab first half it was Shakespeare’s 62nd minute decision to substitute Demarai Gray – in preference for Marc Albrighton – that ultimately swung the encounter in the home side’s favour.
Within moments of his introduction, Albrighton delivered a cross for forward Islam Slimani to head home the game’s opening goal – before capping a fine individual second half cameo performance by providing the assist for Jamie Vardy’s match sealing strike on 78 minutes.
The victory means that Leicester find themselves in the top half of the Premier League standings – nine points clear of the relegation zone – whilst sorry Sunderland face contrasting fortunes; as the Black Cats are eight points adrift at the foot of the table with just eight games remaining.

Despite Slimani and Vardy claiming many of the plaudits for their differential strikes, supporters of the Foxes took to Twitter to celebrate the contribution of their industrious midfielder Albrighton – with reaction ranging from comparisons to Premier League stars Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling, Nathan Redmond and team mate Riyad Mahrez, to claims that the 2014 free transfer signing from Aston Villa is one of the most underrated players in the division and should receive international recognition.
