Newcastle United appear set to finally sign a striker after agreeing a loan deal for Leicester City’s Islam Slimani, SkySports report.

Slimani has struggled to live up to his big price tag at Leicester after signing in 2016.

But the Foxes’ decision to let him leave has prompted some disapproval among fans.

Leicester have already waved goodbye to Ahmed Musa and Leonardo Ulloa over the past week, and Slimani will be the third striker out the door.

While they still have Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Shinji Okazaki, fans are not impressed with the decision seeing as they stand to benefit in very little way from a loan.

Slimani had a very strong record for Sporting Clube de Portugal and Leicester paid £29 million to sign him.

Manager Rafa Benitez has a real bargain on his hands if he can help him re-discover his form then he will prove an astute signing for Newcastle.

Leicester will have to wait until summer to recoup money for him, and fans are less than impressed with this.
