The Foxes had won four games in a row before losing to champions-elect Chelsea in midweek, and Nigel Pearson’s men got back to winning ways this afternoon.
Leonardo Ulloa glanced home a header from a corner inside the first 40 seconds as Newcastle were staring down the barrel of an eighth consecutive defeat.
Inside 20 minutes, Leicester made it 2-0 as Wes Morgan touched home a free kick from close range, leaving the Magpies virtually out of the game by half time.
Shortly after the restart, Emmanuel Riveire comically conceded a penalty after a push on Marcin Wasilewski, and Ulloa stepped up to score.
Mike Williamson then saw red for a rash tackle on Jamie Vardy, and Darly Janmaat followed him down the tunnel late on, again for a clumsy foul on Vardy.
The result leaves Leicester in 16th place in the Premier League table, just one point behind Newcastle, who are hurtling towards the bottom three under Carver – and there’s little sign of the run ending any time soon.
