Claudio Ranieri’s men snatched a late point courtesy of an Islam Slimani penalty at The King Power Stadium versus Middlesbrough last weekend, after being out-muscled by the visitors for the majority of the game.

The Foxes are without a league win in over a month and have taken just a single point on their travels this campaign. Morgan however, insists his side can get the right result this weekend.

He told lcfc.com: “It’s not going to be easy at all. Sunderland are finding a bit of form and they can be strong team. They’ve got some good, experience players, so they’ll be a big threat and we have to be ready for that.

“At the same time, we need to pick up our first away win. We’ve worked on tactics all week and we’ve analysed our strengths and weaknesses, so we’ll try and implement that in the game.

“There’s a few tactics that we want to use and hopefully we can apply those to get the right result.”

As holders of the Premier League, Leicester have struggled this term having to juggle Champions League football with domestic responsibilities.

Despite having qualified for the knockout stages winning the group and only conceding one goal, their European exploits have seen their league form suffer.

Sitting in 14th spot just two points from the bottom three, the hope for Ranieri’s men is that now without European commitments until February, the Foxes can go on a run over the upcoming festive period.

Wes Morgan, who was so instrumental in Leicester’s 15 clean sheets last term, is acutely aware of the threat posed my David Moyes’ side, in particular the in-form Jermain Defoe, the 32 year-old is set to come up against.

“Jermain Defoe is a born goalscorer and he will always find the net for whatever team he plays for, continues Morgan.

“He’s a big threat for them and we definitely need to keep him quiet. We’ll be focused on that and of course there’s other key players that we need to keep an eye on.”

On last weekend’s point, the defender adds,“It was a good point considering the circumstances. We left it very late but the boys just kept going to the end. To get a penalty and for it to be converted to get a point was a massive result mentally. Hopefully we can use that in the next game.
