West Ham United legend Geoff Hurst has delivered a damning verdict on the attitude of the club’s players after they were criticised by Arsene Wenger.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic
For most West Ham United fans the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out was the straw that broke the camel’s back in a hugely disappointing season.
The Hammers have endured a torrid second season under Slaven Bilic after their record breaking farewell campaign at Upton Park when they finished just four points off the Champions League places.
A 4-0 drubbing in the last home game of the season summed up 2016/17 for the Hammers in one 90 minute showing.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hit out at the East Londoners for their abject display in the defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side, accusing Bilic’s team of ‘being on holiday’ as reported by the likes of The Sun.
The Gunners boss was rounded on by fans and pundits alike accused of looking for a scapegoat for his own failings this season.

But West Ham’s legendary World Cup winning striker Geoff Hurst has concurred with Wenger’s assertion and pulled no punches with his short and sharp assessment of the performance against Liverpool.
“West Ham United, sorry, last game v Liverpool, whose testimonial was it?,” Hurst posted on Twitter as the dust settled following the final home game of the season this week.

While West Ham were poor, there were some mitigating factors, namely that the club was without no less than nine first team players through injury.
But that was no excuse for a distinct lack of effort from Bilic’s side once they went behind.
The result gave the Reds the edge over Arsenal in the race for a Champions League spot, which will be decided this weekend while the highest West Ham can finish is 12th.
