Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney has been in contact with Gilberto Silva, after the ex-Gunners star named him as his Player of the Week on his podcast.

After being informed of Silva’s decision by the man himself, the former Celtic left-back replied: ‘Thank you very much legend.’

The 44-year-old mentioned that he was impressed with Tierney’s ‘hard work’ in the recent defeat to Leicester, and praised the defender’s passion and hunger.

While the result won’t have been what the £25 million man or Mikel Arteta wanted, Silva is right to say that Arsenal’s No.3 stood out.

According to WhoScored, Tierney made two key passes against the Foxes, while he also completed two successful crosses from an attempted four.

He also recorded one interception and one clearance, while helping to provide support both in defence and in attack as he usually does.

For the Scotland international to receive praise from the 44-year-old who he describes a ‘legend’ must feel good.

If anyone knows what it takes to make the grade at Arsenal, it’s Silva.

The ex-Brazil international and 2002 World Cup winner was part of the famous ‘Arsenal Invincibles’ side, who romped to the title without losing a game in the 2003/04 campaign.

If Tierney can even achieve half of what Silva did with the Gunners, then he’ll have a very good career at the Emirates.
