Tottenham Hotspur have a new under-18s coach.
Parker has secured a job as first team coach at Fulham, working with manager Slavisa Jokanovic.
Some Tottenham fans called for retired player Ryan Mason to be given the job, but Spurs have already found Parker’s successor.
The club’s official website made a low key note in Parker’s departure announcement, naming Matt Wells as his replacement.
The post read: “Following Scott’s departure, Matt Wells will assume coaching responsibilities for our Under-18s.”
While the message was unclear if this is a permanent fixture or temporary, a Tottenham club legend has shed light on the situation.
1960/61 Double winning hero Cliff Jones posted on his Twitter page congratulating Wells, who is actually his grandson.
Whether long-term or short-term, Wells has worked his way into the role, working as Ugo Ehiogu’s assistant at under-23 level and he has been with the club since 2014.
A former academy player himself at the club, Wells is a legacy appointment by Spurs, and a deserving one.
