Some Leeds United fans have praised Joe Gelhardt on Twitter for his performance for the Under-23 side against their Crystal Palace counterparts this afternoon.

Gelhardt was in action for the Leeds Under-23 team at Thorp Arch in Premier League 2.

The 18-year-old scored his first goal of the match from the penalty spot in the final stages of the first half.

Then in the 57th minute, the former Wigan Athletic forward scored a brilliant goal to double his tally.

The teenage forward received the ball outside the Palace penalty box, controlled it brilliantly, went past a couple of defenders, and slotted it home with ease.

It was a superb goal from the teenager, who had a very good game overall as his side won 4-1, and some Leeds fans were hugely impressed by his performance, as shown in the following posts on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Leeds first team will return to action on Monday evening when they take on Leicester City at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Ahead of the game, head coach Marcelo Bielsa has spoken highly of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.

Bielsa told Leeds Live: “He’s a very good player who scores lots of goals and he’s very quick.”
