Leeds United’s Tyler Denton has joined Port Vale on loan.
Leeds United today agreed to send left back Tyler Denton out on loan, with League Two club Port Vale landing him on a season-long loan deal.
Denton, 21, is a product of the Leeds United academy, and hit the headlines last season when he not only made his first team debut against Luton Town in the EFL Cup, but scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory.
However, with Charlie Taylor and Gaetano Berardi both set as Garry Monk’s prime candidates to play at left back, Denton found first-team football hard to come by even after his debut exploits, and ended the season with just three appearances to his name – none of which came in the Championship.
Despite Taylor moving on to Burnley, Leeds have brought in another left back as Cameron Borthwick-Jackson joined on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United on Monday morning.
Within hours of that deal being announced, Leeds also confirmed that left back Denton is heading out for the season too, joining League Two side Port Vale on loan for the season.
Ex-Leeds midfielder Michael Brown is in charge at Vale Park, and has now called on a favour from his former club in order to strike a deal for Denton, who needs first-team experience this term.
After the deal was confirmed, Denton took to Twitter to admit that he is excited about his move and can’t wait to start the challenge at Vale Park, with Brown’s men looking to win promotion back to League One this season.
