Leeds United defender Tyler Denton is dreaming of a Premier League return.

Leeds United youngster Tyler Denton has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that a return to the Premier League is ‘the dream’ after a superb run of form.

The Whites beat Norwich City 3-2 at Carrow Road before heading into the international break, meaning Garry Monk’s men have now won seven of their last ten Championship games.

Leeds now sit sixth in the Championship table, occupying one of the four play-off places – leaving fans to dream of a push to finally return to the Premier League.

It’s now over 12 years since Leeds were relegated from the Premier League, and fans – as well as former players – have been longing to see the Whites make their return to the top flight.

The 2006 play-off final defeat to Watford was the closest Leeds have come to winning promotion back to the Premier League, and since being promoted from League One to the Championship in 2010, their highest league finish in the second tier is seventh, which they achieved in 2011.

After five successive bottom-half finishes, Leeds now appear to have their best chance of returning to the Premier League in years, with Monk’s men really gathering momentum.

This weekend’s home game with Newcastle United will be a major test of Leeds’ title credentials, and young left back Tyler Denton has commented on the club’s promotion hopes ahead of the game.

Denton joined the club in 2003, meaning he’ll have memories of Leeds in the Premier League, and has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that returning to the top flight is ‘the dream’, and with fans buzzing after recent performances, he’s hoping that Leeds can finally get back where they belong.

“That is the dream isn’t it?” sad Denton. “And everyone around the city, especially this year, the buzz has been phenomenal. That’s the main aim and, hopefully, we are going to get there,” he added.
