Paudie O’Connor is struggling to prove a point to Leeds United.
Paudie O’Connor’s January switch to Bradford looked to be a smart one for the Leeds youngster after he had struggled to force his way to the plans at Blackpool on a regular basis.
The 21-year-old made just seven league starts at Bloomfield Road, so the switch to a team further down the League One table seemed to make a lot of sense.
And former Leeds midfielder David Hopkin showed a huge amount of faith in the centre-back by deviating from his usual system to fit O’Connor into the Bantams lineup ahead of his debut.
However, that debut lasted just 45 minutes. And unfortunately, the situation has not improved for the Whites ace.
His only other appearance came in the dramatic victory against Shrewsbury when he was brought on with 89 minutes on the clock. And at the weekend, O’Connor was left out of the matchday squad altogether.
It is perhaps a surprise that O’Connor finds himself seemingly struggling so much. He was one of the youngsters that made the final weeks of last season somewhat bearable for Leeds fans as he was given his chance in the first-team, and generally did well.
He is now seemingly biding his time, hoping that a piece of luck comes his way and he can get back into the Bradford side.
He may well get another chance to prove himself with Hopkin’s men. But he has now got a mountain to climb if he hopes to prove a point to his parent club ahead of his return in the summer.
