Newcastle United fans have reacted to the news that Leeds will only have one centre-back available to them after Pascal Struijk’s red card appeal was upheld on Wednesday.
Both Leeds and Newcastle are searching for their first wins of the new Premier League season – they lock horns on Friday night at St James’ Park.
But Marcelo Bielsa will be without Struijk because the Yorkshire club were ‘unsuccessful’ in their bid to overturn the red card he received on Sunday against Jurgen Klopp’s side, as posted by Sky Sports.
Added with that, Diego Llorente also went off injured during that game with a suspected muscle injury.
That means that the experienced Liam Cooper might just be the only bonafide centre-back Bielsa can choose from when his side travel to the North East.
Despite being at an advantage, in that regard, Newcastle fans don’t think it will make a difference.
That’s because they feel their own form, the mood around the place and the fact that they are without Callum Wilson are reasons why the Whites should leave with three points.
It has been a tough start for Leeds, but perhaps it has been tougher for Newcastle, with Steve Bruce getting pelters, left right and centre.
Even though Bielsa might be short at the back on Friday night, it does seem one of those games where Leeds scoring first or keeping the crowd quiet for the opening 20 minutes will work in their favour.
