Reported Leicester City target Ryan Nolan has admitted that he is hoping to move to England this summer after missing out on a switch to Leeds United, while speaking to Sky Sports.
While Antonio Conte has Inter Milan on the march once again, finishing just a point behind Juventus in the Serie A table while dreaming of their first Scudetto in a decade, there was one man at the San Siro who has come to rue the appointment of this emerald-eyed commander.
As Nolan points out, Conte wanted ‘instant success’ – and that meant there were few opportunities for the next generation.
21-year-old Nolan, who captained Inter at U23 level, was forced to drop down the divisions with a move to Serie C outfit Arezzo once Diego Godin had arrived to push him further down the pecking order.
But it seems that this was merely a short-term solution with the ball-playing Irishman setting his sights on proving himself on English shores after five years in Italy.
“Like a lot of Irish lads I grew up watching the Premier League. Last year I was close to coming here, Leeds United were very interested,” Nolan says.
“But this year I’m hoping to get a move sorted before the end of the summer transfer window. There’s a couple of Championship clubs interested and one Premier League club as well.”

Nolan, a classy but commanding central defender who was handed the chance to train alongside his boyhood idol Nemanja Vidic at the San Siro, is a target for Leicester.
Blackburn and Norwich, meanwhile, appear to be the ‘couple of Championship clubs’ he is referring too, if the Sun is to be believed.
Interestingly, the report adds that a move to Elland Road fell through due to Marcelo Bielsa’s desire to farm him out on loan to Falkirk.
12 months on, Arezzo will let Nolan leave for free, as long as his next club agree to include a sizeable sell-on clause in his contract.
