Leeds wanted to sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool in the summer, but he joined Rangers instead.
Ryan Kent has been in superb form since joining Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side on a season-long loan from Liverpool in the summer, and reports have now outlined how much it would take the Gers to sign him permanently.
The Record claimed over the weekend that Rangers would have to pay upwards of £2million to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis, and that is a fee that surely the Gers simply have to fork out.
But if that figure is available to other sides than Rangers, then Leeds United simply have to reignite their interest in the exciting winger after first being linked with Kent in the summer.
The England youth international scored his second goal for Rangers on Sunday afternoon in an excellent 3-1 win over Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts – in what is up there with his best performances in a Light Blue shirt.
Goal claimed back in January that Marcelo Bielsa’s side had joined Rangers in the pursuit of Kent, with the former Barnsley and Bristol City loanee eventually choosing to join Liverpool legend Gerrard at Ibrox.
Leeds boast options out wide, with Pablo Hernandez arguably the club’s best winger. Gjanni Alioski has been indifferent of late, while Jack Harrison remains only on loan from Man City. Stuart Dallas is yet to break into the team this season.
A new winger, then, could be required next summer whether the club are in the Premier League or indeed remain in the Championship and at just £2million, Kent would be an excellent signing for a bargain fee.
He is a must-buy if he is available for such a small figure, bringing pace, skill and an eye for goal to a side that pride on their attacking flair and ability to create with the ball.
