Leeds are reportedly one of a number of clubs looking at Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, as he continues to shine on loan at Sheffield United. A player, that earned praise from Paul Heckingbottom just this week.
Gibbs-White, 22, joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan from Wolves last summer and has starred for the Blades since. Clocking up 27 games in all competitions, he has had a hand in 16 goals – scoring nine, seven assists.
That form has not gone unnoticed. TeamTalk report that Fulham are taking a look at Gibbs-White, as a potential replacement for Fabio Carvalho. Leeds, Palace and Southampton are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
Against Sheffield United’s old manager in Chris Wilder, the Blades ran out 4-1 winners over Middlesbrough – with Gibbs-White scoring one and creating another. Heckingbottom praised him after his stunning display.
“He has got that ability. But everyone can also see how hard he works, and he worked extremely hard for the team. That’s important, and I said it to Morgan afterwards,” Heckingbottom told the Sheffield Star.
“Not only working hard, but performing his role properly. We can all run about but it’s about doing your job for the team. And that’s why I love him, because he does that,” the ex-Leeds manager continued.
Heckingbottom on Gibbs-White: All the traits needed to play for Leeds
For some time now, Leeds have needed a midfielder. One capable of getting goals from midfield, one capable of the work rate required to play for Leeds. Brenden Aaronson has been strongly linked and he is a possibility.
Gibbs-White would not be as good as Aaronson, but not far off. His form for Sheffield United this season is a sign of that – scoring goals, creating them but doing it from midfield, showing enormous energy and work rate.
If a decent fee can be agreed with Wolves, then Leeds would be getting a really good, young, English player that can improve under the guidance of Jesse Marsch. But anything over £15million would be far too expensive.
