Leeds United are interested in signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.
What’s the story?
Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting this morning that Leeds are among the clubs interested in signing Junior.
West Ham United, Southampton, AC Milan and Inter Milan also want the left-back.
Barcelona have told Junior about interest from Leeds.
On his part, the 24-year-old ‘does not look down on’ Leeds, according to the report.
Need for a left-back
Leeds are on the hunt for a left-back.
Ezgjan Alioski is out of contract at the Premier League outfit at the end of the month.
No new deal is in place at the moment.
Even if Alioski stays, the Whites still need to sign a specialist left-back.
The North Macedonia international is a winger converted into a left-back by Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Junior Firpo to Leeds?
Junior did well at Real Betis and earned the move to Barcelona in 2019.
The Spanish giants inserted a release clause of €200 million (£171.93 million) in his contract at the time, as announced on their official website.
Now, no one actually expects Leeds or any other club to pay €200 million (£171.93 million) for the 24-year-old this summer.
Even though release clauses are common in Spain, the value shows how highly Barcelona rated him at the time.
After all, €200 million (£171.93 million) is not a small sum.
Things have not worked out for Junior at Barcelona, but the left-back is only 24 and can also play as a centre-back or a left-back.
For the right price, the Spaniard would be a smart signing for Leeds.
