Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville recently had an hour-long conversation with Arne Slot ahead of a potential return to Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.

That is according to 1908; a Rotterdam-based publication who specialise in all things Feyenoord.

They are about as reliable as it gets when it comes to reporting on the comings and goings at De Kuip.  So when they say that Crysencio Summerville may be in line for a return to the club he left back in 2020 in favour of a fresh start at Leeds United, they are worth listening to.

Summerville, 1908 say, held talks with Slot for ‘more than an hour’ recently. The Rotterdam-born 21-year-old, who joined Feyenoord’s academy at the age of just six, is valued by Leeds at around £10 million.

He also has admirers at both Aston Villa and RB Leipzig.

Is Crysencio Summerville returning to Feyenoord from Leeds?

Summerville may feel he has unfinished business at Feyenoord. He did not make a single first-team appearance before leaving for England. 1908, however, are at pains to point out that the winger has not yet made a decision on whether or not he plans to return to the Netherlands.

Of course, it still hurts at times,” Summerville admitted recently. “I played (at Feyenoord) from the age of six. Maybe I’ll (return and) play there someday.”

Though the prospect of Champions League football at Feyenoord will obviously hold some appeal. What’s more, Slot brought an end to speculation over his own future, signing a new long-term contract after guiding Feyenoord to only their second domestic title since the turn of the Century.

Interestingly, Slot was a target for Leeds back in February, when Jesse Marsch was sacked. There was also interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Arne Slot holds talks

“Whether Slot talked to Spurs and Chelsea? Yes (he did),” Feyenoord director Dennis Te Kloese tells NOS. “And he should not underestimate himself, because there were more clubs interested in him.

“We have a good feeling about the club. We also have a good feeling about how the club presents itself to supporters and sponsors. Slot contributed to this to a large extent, and we also wanted to continue (with him).

“That has all been discussed since April.”

1908 insist that, as things stand, there is no ‘official contact’ between Leeds and Feyenoord regarding Summerville. The Dutch u21 international is likely to be a little on the expensive side too, his £10 million fee more than the sum Feyenoord are reluctant to pay to bring in Keito Nakamura from Austrian outfit LASK Linz.
