Leeds United host Birmingham City at the weekend and the two sides are closer in the table than Whites fans would like.

A promising start to the season for Leeds has been marred by an inconsistent past few games which has left them in fifth place.

Leeds are still just two points off the top, but Birmingham are only four points further back.

An away win for Birmingham at Leeds will bring them to within just one point of Leeds, moving from 12th to potentially as high as seventh if results go their way.

Leeds could also slip from two points off the top to five points back from leaders West Bromwich Albion or Nottingham Forest.

This is a pivotal game and Birmingham’s double over Leeds last season will give them confidence.

Two key men are missing from those victories, star forward Che Adams who has since been sold, and manager Garry Monk, who is now at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds have a far better goal difference than Birmingham +8 compared to -3 and will be favoured to get a result.

But they have failed to win games they should have this season already.

Leeds need to show a new clinical streak, as this game could be pivotal to whether they are leading the promotion chase, or just one of the chasing pack.
