Leeds United have been linked with making a move for the Manchester United man.
Just 24 hours after Leeds United were said by The Sun to be considering making a loan move for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay, their task of landing the attacking midfielder appears to have got even harder.
McTominay was given his first Premier League start for United last night, and he impressed as the Red Devils got past Bournemouth.
United picked up a 1-0 win over the Cherries, thanks to a goal from Romelu Lukaku.
But McTominay’s outing certainly suggested that he was comfortable at Premier League level.
If Leeds’ scouts were watching on, as they looked for more information about their reported January target, then they are sure to have been impressed.
However, completing a deal may just have got a lot harder for Leeds, as McTominay’s reputation is starting to grow.
Jose Mourinho has now seen that McTominay can cope with playing in the Premier League, which could limit his chances of leaving on loan.
And while Leeds should still attempt to pursue a deal, as it would be a very exciting transfer, they would be wise to ensure that they have a back-up plan in place, as the deal appears unlikely.
