And he had good reason to be impressed. Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez maintain their superb seasons with a goal apiece but, without Green’s heroics between the sticks, Leeds’ winless run may have stretched to three games.
Clawing away goal-bound efforts from Matty Taylor, David Cotterill and Milan Djuric before the latter netted a late consolation, the 37-year-old rolled back the years, making a total of eight saves across the 90 minutes. For the record, that’s six more than his opposite number Fabian Giefer.
That horror spill against Newcastle United in November, and the barrage of demands for the veteran ‘keeper to pay with his starting berth, appear a world away.
He may have been rusty at the start of the season but, at the moment, a well-oiled Green is performing at his full potential.
