Sol Bamba was unable to prevent his Leeds United side from losing 2-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Since Sol Bamba’s arrival at Leeds United, the on-loan defender has been nothing short of sensational.
The 30-year-old centre-back has forged what appeared to be an impenetrable back-line, partnering both Giuseppe Bellusci and Liam Cooper to wonderful effect.
Anyone who saw Bamba in those early performances would have been hailing him as one of the signings of the season, and certainly Leeds’ canniest piece of business in quite some time.
But unfortunately for the Ivorian and his current club, he was unable to prevent Brighton & Hove Albion from winning 2-0 on Tuesday evening, putting an end to Leeds’ wonderful run of three consecutive away wins.
Had they made it four, Leeds would have done something they had not managed since April 2001, but as it is they must now dust themselves down and focus on back-to-back home matches as they look to return to winning ways.
| Pass Accuracy | Outfield Blocks | Tackles Won | Duels Won | Aerials Won | Interceptions Won | Effective Clearances | Effective Headed Clearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sol Bamba | 90% | 1 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 1 | 90 |
Bamba’s passing accuracy remained high, with the defender finding a teammate with 90 per cent of his efforts. But he won just four battles all evening, a figure down considerably from his recent performances against the likes of Middlesbrough and Millwall.
The Leeds loanee also failed to win a single tackle, while at the opposite end he offered a threat but could not find the target with either of his goal attempts.
| Shots | On-target Shooting Accuracy | |
|---|---|---|
| Sol Bamba | 2 | 0% |
When a great player has a below par game it is not something to be overly concerned with, but it shows just how well Bamba and his defensive colleagues played at the Riverside Stadium recently, and how hard it will be to maintain that form from now until May.
