Pontus Jansson produced a superb display as Leeds United saw off Cardiff City at the weekend.
The Swedish defender was a commanding presence at the back alongside fellow loanee Kyle Bartley.
Pablo Hernandez
Leeds won the game 2-0 with goals from Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez, recording a second successive victory.
Jansson’s impact was measured with the number of successful clearances he made in the victory, at 13 – more than any Leeds United player in any of their eight league games this season.
| Match | Effective Clearances | |
|---|---|---|
| Pontus Jansson | Cardiff vs Leeds | 13 |
| Kyle Bartley | Leeds vs Fulham | 10 |
| Liam Cooper | Sheff Wed vs Leeds | 8 |

Jansson signed from Serie A side Torino late in the transfer window, and Leeds have an option to sign him permanently once he plays 20 games for the club.
This is already looking like a formality, with Jansson’s performances making him a must pick for head coach Garry Monk.
Leeds could of course look to rest him in midweek against Blackburn in the EFL Cup, but the centre-back is proving to be a real leader and potential cult hero among supporters.
