However, the Leeds defender’s robust style means that he is not always an opponent that strikers enjoy coming up against.
And Jansson admits that he was surprised to be nominated by fellow players to be put into the team of the year.
“Being selected by ‘experts’ is one thing. But being picked out by opposition coaches and players was actually honourable,” he said.
“I always thought people hate me on the pitch. It was very flattering and probably the finest award I have received.”
Jansson was joined in the PFA Team of the Year by fellow Leeds players, Liam Cooper and Pablo Hernandez.
Despite the trio’s impressive seasons they were still not able to get Leeds over the line in the race for promotion though.
The Whites fell just short of claiming an automatic spot and then lost to Derby County in the play offs.
Leeds have been boosted recently by the news that Marcelo Bielsa will stick with them for next season, which has increased optimism around Elland Road that they could go one better next time around.
