Kemar Roofe will feel hard done by if Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen drops him for Pierre-Michel Lassoga.
Earlier today, Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen confirmed that he had a clean bill of health but refused to say whether Pierre-Michel Lasogga would return for Wednesday’s trip to Wolves.
The 25-year-old sat out Sunday’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough with an illness and Christiansen suggested that he could be back at Molineux after claiming “everyone is fit”.
Should he return, Kemar Roofe will be the man to drop out of the number nine role, and probably the first XI completely after Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez and Egzjan Alioski starred on the weekend.
But should the former Oxford United man consider his future at Leeds if Christiansen takes him out?
By all accounts, Roofe was exceptional in Lasogga’s position on Sunday and it would seem hugely unfair if the Hamburg striker replaces him in the West Midlands.
The 24-year-old, a £3 million signing under Garry Monk, has been given very few chances up front since joining 18 months ago, often deployed on the wing, but his performance against the Teesiders was another reminder as to where he is most effective and you couldn’t blame him for being upset if he finds himself back on the bench tomorrow.
With two goals in his last four games, Lasogga is in decent form, but Leeds offered a reminder as to how potent they can be in the final third and the truth is that Christiansen shouldn’t disrupt that dynamic to facilitate the return of the German, if he is indeed fit.
