Patrick Bamford has revealed on the Leeds United podcast that Kalvin Phillips was not basking in praise after his quite brilliant pass during Leeds United’s recent game against Burnley.
Leeds won 4-0 at Turf Moor last weekend, and Phillips managed to steal the show with one of his cross-field balls.
The Leeds midfielder hit a brilliant diagonal to Jack Harrison on the half-volley, which helped Leeds score through Rodrigo.
Bamford admits that when his teammate hit the pass, he couldn’t believe the skill level involved.
But Phillips was very gracious when taking the acclaim after the game.
“Kalvin’s pass at Burnley – that was unbelievable, that was actually unbelievable,” Bamford enthused.
“Do you know what he said? He said, I was so tired that I just thought I’m going to leather it and hope that it gets there.
“He’s just zinged it! It was like Paul Scholes, wasn’t it, he’s just landing it straight on his foot.”

Phillips’ passing range often doesn’t get the credit it deserves from outside Leeds.
The 25-year-old is typically renowned as a solid enforcer, with his defensive qualities often admired.
But his ability to conduct play is a crucial part of Leeds’ system and he is one of the strongest distributors in their team.
Phillips’ reputation will surely increase massively if he can continue to deliver those sort of passes on the international stage over the summer.
The Leeds man looks to have a strong chance of going to Euro 2020 with England, after playing regularly for the Three Lions in recent international breaks.
