We preview an XI consisting of Leeds United’s oldest Championship players.

Robert Green (37 years, 44 days) – The veteran goalkeeper is the only current Leeds player to make the oldest XI. Green’s recent appearance for the Whites, a clean sheet and a victory against Sheffield Wednesday, made him the second oldest Championship representative for Leeds – a feat that is likely to progress to the oldest in the upcoming weeks.
Alan Wright (35 years, 16 days) – Former Aston Villa left back Alan Wright made just a solitary appearance for Leeds during a short loan spell in October 2006. The next oldest left back to represent Leeds in the Championship is Adam Drury, who made the last of his 13 displays for United in August 2013, aged 34 years and 339 days.

Lucas Radebe (36 years, 26 days) – A Leeds fans favourite and Elland Road legend, Lucas Radebe played more than 200 league games for the club between 1994 and 2005 – the last of which occurred in the Championship in May 2005.

Richard Naylor (34 years, 67 days) – After a long spell at Ipswich Town, where Naylor spent the majority of his career, the striker-turned-defender joined his boyhood club Leeds in 2009. The last of Naylor’s 69 Championship games for Leeds was in May 2011.

Ugo Ehiogu (34 years, 56 days) – Another experienced Premier League veteran signed by Leeds to help their early Championship navigations, Ugo Ehiogu spent a six game loan spell at Elland Road in 2006. The defender’s final game for Leeds was in December 2006, in a 3-1 loss to Stoke City.

Michael Brown (37 years, 97 days) – The oldest of Leeds’ Championship players, the combative Michael Brown played for the club between 2011 and 2014 – making his final appearance in a Leeds shirt at 37 years of age. The likelihood is that Brown will lose his crown as the oldest of the oldest at some point in this current season, as goalkeeper Green is approaching the landmark.

Amdy Faye (33 years, 288 days) – Senegal international Amdy Faye finished his career with a six-month, eight game, contract at Leeds. At the time of making his last appearance for the Whites, in December 2010, Faye was approaching his 34th birthday.

Steve Guppy (35 years, 145 days) – After a successful period at Wycombe Wanderers, Leicester City and Celtic, and prior to experiencing the Autumn of his career in Major League Soccer, winger Steve Guppy spent a short time at Elland Road – making just three appearances for Leeds in 2004.

Steve Stone (35 years, 55 days) – During a 12-game spell at Leeds towards the end of his career, right sided midfielder Steve Stone suffered a plethora of injuries which culminated in his retirement from the professional game. Stone made his last career appearance in October 2006, a 4-0 defeat to Stoke.

Brian Deane (37 years, 37 days) – The scorer of the Premier League’s first ever goal, Brian Deane, spent four years at Elland Road from 1993 to 1997. Deane returned to Leeds for their 2004-05 Championship season, making 31 league appearances – the last coming in March 2005 at the grand age of 37.

Andy Gray (35 years, 47 days) – The current manager of Leeds’ Under-18 side, Andy Gray, began his career at Elland Road in 1995 before embarking on an 11-club journey around England’s second-tier. Gray returned to Leeds for the 2012-13 season, playing seven times for the club whilst in his mid-thirties.
