Leeds United had five defensive players on the bench against Queens Park Rangers.

Considering Leeds United defeated Queens Park Rangers 3-1 on Saturday, the need for additional attackers may not be the first thing the club’s fans are discussing with a few hours to reflect on another impressive outing.
However, a quick look at Leeds’ substitutes’ bench for the game suggests otherwise, with Whites boss Thomas Christiansen naming five defensive-minded players along with goalkeeper Andy Lonergan and forward Pawel Cibicki.

The latter came on to great effect following an injury to Caleb Ekuban, but he was literally the only hope when it came to additional goal-scoring threat, with the rest of Leeds’ bench made up of Matthew Pennington, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Conor Shaughnessy, Eunan O’Kane and Vurnon Anita.
In short, if Leeds needed a late goal and looked to the bench, they would have been in trouble, meaning the club’s director of football Victor Orta should be looking long and hard for another attacker come January.

Jay-Roy Grot and Hadi Sacko are not the answer even when they are included in the match day squad, while Pierre-Michel Lasogga has fallen down the pecking order during his injury absence
There are attackers available to Leeds, but few of the quality to make a difference off the bench and, especially during the second half of what could be a vital campaign, Christiansen will want his bench to be as strong as his starting line-up.
