Aston Villa, Leeds United and Newcastle United players were all picked in the EFL Team of the Week.
The EFL have revealed their Team of the Week for this past weekend’s games – and Leeds United ace Luke Ayling is in the XI.
The weekend’s games saw Newcastle continue their superb form by beating Cardiff City 2-1, whilst second placed Brighton beat Bristol City, and Aston Villa kept up their unbeaten start to life under Steve Bruce with a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Luke Ayling of Leeds United
As the dust settles on round 16 of the Championship, the EFL have revealed their Team of the Week – and ten teams are represented after impressive performances.
Barnsley goalkeeper Adam Davies kicks off the team having kept a clean sheet in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Burton Albion, where the home side had a total of 21 shots on goal, and ten shots on target.
Luke Ayling is handed the right back spot having played a key role in Leeds United’s 3-2 win at Norwich City, with the summer signing from Bristol City grabbing a key assist for Chris Wood’s goal.
Preston’s Aiden McGeady
Adam Webster (Ipswich Town) and Ciaran Clark (Newcastle) also make the back four, whilst Scott Malone is one of two Fulham players in the side, as Tom Cairney is included in midfield after a 2-0 win at Brentford.
Preston’s Aiden McGeady features out wide, after the Everton loanee dazzled against Rotherham, notching an assist and giving full back Darnell Fisher a torrid time all afternoon.
Brighton’s Steve Sidwell is unsurprisingly in the side having scored a long-range goal against Bristol City, whilst Derby County’s Tom Ince is recognised for his two-goal display against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Finally, Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia and Reading’s Garath McCleary feature after both scoring twice against Blackburn and Wigan Athletic respectively.
Here is the EFL’s Team of the Week, including Leeds defender Ayling and Everton-owned winger McGeady…
