Leeds United ended the summer window by signing Chelsea’s Izzy Brown.
Leeds United managed to make one more signing before Friday’s loan deadline, as playmaker Izzy Brown arrived on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
The Whites have made a stunning start to the season, but were still looking for one more addition to give Marcelo Bielsa another option in attacking midfield.
Samu Saiz has been sensational so far this season, but adding another playmaker to cover for the Spaniard was vital, with Brown arriving to join fellow Chelsea loanees Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker.
The Brown deal now gives Bielsa exactly what he wanted, having told Leeds Live last week that he wanted two players for every position in his 4-1-4-1 system.
The image below shows how Bielsa has two players in every role now, starting with two Championship-calibre goalkeepers in Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Jamal Blackman, with either good enough to start for the Whites.
Across defence, the rise of Jamie Shackleton at right back makes him great cover for Luke Ayling, whilst Bielsa has four centre back options in Pontus Jansson, Gaetano Berardi, Liam Cooper and Conor Shaughnessy, with Ayling able to cover there, whilst Barry Douglas offers an instant impact at left back whilst Tom Pearce develops.
With Adam Forshaw returning from injury, he can compete with Kalvin Phillips in front of the back four, with Mateusz Klich, Lewis Baker, Samu Saiz and Izzy Brown challgning for the spots supporting the front three.
Bielsa has two right-footed wingers to cut in from the left in Pablo Hernandez and Stuart Dallas, as well as two left-footed wingers to cut in from the right in Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison, with the Argentinian seemingly wanted his wide man to cut in and allow his wing backs to push on.
Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford are two great strikers to link up play for Bielsa at the top of the pitch, whilst Tyler Roberts adds further depth up top and out wide, giving Bielsa the perfectly strong and balanced squad he’s been seeking all summer.
