Whites centre-back Kyle Bartley spoke to the media today ahead of his side’s vital clash with play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and suggested that the pressure will be firmly on the Owls because of the money they have spent, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
This weekend’s highly anticipated clash between Leeds and Wednesday is set up perfectly, with the two sides both level on points in the Championship table, separated only by goal difference.
And Bartley, who is spending the season on loan at Elland Road, seemed to be using reverse psychology during his press conference today, piling the pressure on the Owls ahead of Saturday’s game, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“It is a very big game, a local derby and we are all looking forward to it – but it is just three points at the end of the day. Their expectations are a lot higher than us, especially with the money they have spent. There is a lot of pressure on them.”

Garry Monk’s men currently sit one place above Carlos Carvalhal’s side in fifth spot in the table, and both sides will still harbour hopes of forcing their way into the automatic promotion places.
And however unrealistic that may seem at the moment, there are still 13 games and 39 points to be played for, and with the nature of the Championship, where anything can happen on a week-to-week basis, if either side can put together a sustained run of victories, a place inside the top two will not be completely out of the question.
