Kalvin Phillips was linked with moves away from Leeds United in the summer transfer window
Phillips recently signed a new contract with Leeds and committed his long-term future to the club, but there was speculation in the summer that he could leave.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Bournemouth all wanted the 23-year-old this summer.
The Yorkshire Evening Post also claimed that Villa had an offer of £20 million for the youngster turned down by Leeds.
The central midfielder, who can also operate as a central defender, has disclosed what Leeds owner Radrizzani told him in the summer.
Phillips told Leeds Live: “Owner told me he wanted to keep me. Made it clear. I’m grateful for his patience.”
Good decision for Leeds United
Phillips is one of the best central midfielders in the Championship, and him staying at Leeds this season certainly enhances their chances of wining automatic promotion to the Premier League.
If the Whites do not get promoted and have to sell the youngster next summer, then the club will get some good transfer fee due to his new contract.
