Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this summer as Leeds United are set to take on Manchester United in a friendly on Wednesday afternoon.

Leeds United supporters will be pretty eager for August 8 to come along because it will officially signal the end of this summer’s transfer window for Premier League and Championship clubs.
It will also stop the talk of Kalvin Phillips potentially heading for the Elland Road exit door, that’s if he hasn’t left before then, because a number of top-flight clubs are keen on his services.
The Mirror previously claimed that the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Bournemouth and Aston Villa are keen on his services – the latter making the early running for his signature.
On Wednesday afternoon, Phillips will come up against Manchester United in a pre-season friendly, but it is fair to say that given the rivalry between Leeds United and Manchester United, it will be far from a ‘friendly’.
But it will give Phillips a chance to prove his Premier League worth against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and their much-talked-about player Paul Pogba.
Even though you can’t read too much into one game, you can get a fair assessment of a player’s standing and given the possibility that Phillips will come up against the likes of Pogba, if he has a good game against the £89 million man [BBC Sport] then Leeds fans will let you know about it.

There is no doubt that Phillips is one of the best players in the Championship, and he is arguably the best player in his position in the second tier.
But if he can transcend those performances into this hotly-contested pre-season game then it’ll no doubt increase his profile.
Not only that, a great performance and a potential win, will give the whole club some much-needed momentum going into the new Championship season because with Phillips at the heart of their midfield they are arguably the favourites to go up next term.
