Leeds United new boy Izzy Brown has told the club’s official website he has been aware of the club’s interest for 18 months.

Brown penned a season long loan deal from Chelsea yesterday, adding to their squad as they bid to win promotion.

The attacking midfielder said he has known all about Leeds’ desire to sign him for one and a half seasons.

He said: “The decision was easy, I’ve known of Leeds’ interest for around 18 months now and ever since then it has been in the back of my mind.

“It is a huge club with a huge fan base, it has an amazing stadium, an amazing training ground and it is a Premier League club in a way and hopefully that is what we can become.”

That means Leeds signalled their intent to try and sign Brown while he was on loan at Huddersfield Town, and it also coincides with when owner Andrea Radrizzani purchased his first shares in the club.

The terms of that particular deal meant they couldn’t get Brown away from the Terriers, and after his superb year there, he had the option to join a Premier League team, putting Leeds out of the hunt.

Brown’s misfortune to suffer a knee injury has pushed him back towards playing Championship football again and now Leeds look set to benefit, finally getting their man.
