Leeds United appear to be close to signing Helder Costa, Ben White and Jack Harrison now, but all three potential additions carry an element of risk.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have reported how Leeds are closing in on the trio, as Marcelo Bielsa’s men make their first transfer moves of the summer.

The additions should help to strengthen Leeds’ squad for next term, but each addition is a gamble in its own way.

Costa is unquestionably the signing which has got Leeds fans most excited, and it is easy to see why.

When with Wolves the winger was a box of tricks, and he was one of the standout players in the Championship.

If Bielsa can get Costa back to his best then Leeds will have one of the most dangerous attacking line-ups in the second tier at their disposal.

However, Costa’s form for Wolves since their promotion to the Premier League has been concerning.

The wide-man has looked ineffectual for a year, and it remains to be seen whether his confidence has been irreparably knocked as a result.

White is a risk for a different reason – simply because he has never played at Championship level before.

The centre-back shows great promise, and his ability on the ball makes him a majorly exciting prospect for Leeds.

However, he is still developing as a player, particularly physically, and Leeds will need to manage him carefully.

Harrison is the player who Leeds fans are most familiar with, and his return does come as a slight surprise.

Harrison had a solid season last term, but he was far from spectacular.

And if the Manchester City winger does want to win over his doubters at Leeds then he will need to improve over the upcoming campaign.

If Harrison can find his best regularly then he could yet become a major threat at Elland Road, but he is yet to show more than glimpses of his talent so far.

And while the signings all could pay off for Leeds, Whites fans still need to act with some caution, as none are quite guaranteed to be successful.
