Leeds United have not exactly got the best record when it comes to signing players during the January transfer window.
In the second part in our series looking at some of the signings that Leeds United have made during the January transfer window, we take a look at the top five worst acquisitions the Whites have made since the introduction of the winter window…
5. Sebastian Sorsa
Sebastian Sorsa (L)
While Habib Habibou may be a name that some supporters would expect to make the list, he narrowly misses out to Sebastian Sorsa. The defender signed for Leeds in 2008, left Leeds in 2008 and did not make a single appearance for the club in between.
4. Joel Griffiths
Joel Griffiths
Joel Griffiths joined in 2006 and actually had a pretty impressive goalscoring record behind him considering that he played in midfield as well as up front. Sadly however, Leeds fans were never able to find out why Kevin Blackwell signed him as he made just two appearances before returning to Australia. He spent most of his time at Elland Road waiting for international clearance as he only made his debut two months after making the switch.
3. The wingers
Jimmy Kebe
Deciding which deal was worse between the loan additions of Jimmy Kebe and Cameron Stewart or the permanent signing of Ryan Hall is difficult. Between the trio, they contributed just one goal during their respective times with the club and few fans were disappointed to see the back of any of them. The positive to come out of their times with Leeds though is that it has made the supporters appreciate the likes of Stuart Dallas and Hadi Sacko even more.

2. Granddi Ngoyi
Granddi Ngoyi
The midfielder was yet another example – but not the worst – of how poorly Leeds often used the loan market shortly after the arrival of Massimo Cellino. Ngoyi made just one appearance following his arrival at Elland Road and spent the majority of his time with the club on the treatment table. Unsurprisingly, the move was not made permanent.
1. Edgar Cani
Edgar Cani
Who else could it be?
A look at the striker’s record before his arrival should have made Leeds fans aware that his loan move in 2015 was probably not going to capture the imagination, but few would have anticipated that he would leave having secured his spot in Whites folklore.
In terms of his record on the pitch, it was unsurprisingly disappointing as he failed to score in any of his four appearances. But it was ahead of a game against Charlton where he made his biggest impact as he was one of six players – all of whom were signed by Cellino – who surprisingly ruled themselves out of the game (via Yorkshire Evening Post), apparently due to injury, much to Neil Redfearn’s, and the Leeds fans’ confusion.
