The ever-popular Pontus Jansson has left Leeds United and made a surprising switch to fellow Championship side Brentford.

It has been a pretty eventful week if you’re a Leeds United supporter, and well that week could be turned into months and years if you want to sum up the club as a whole during these recent times.
Another dramatic chapter was written into Elland Road history books when the popular figure Jansson left Leeds for Brentford in one of the most surprising deals of the window [BBC Sport].
Last season, and since he arrived at the club initially on-loan in 2016, Jansson has been a brick wall and a solid performer for the Whites.
His presence at the back, qualities as a defender and his leadership skills have played its part in the club trying to revive back some of its best moments.
The Yorkshire club nearly did that season when they missed out on promotion, with a lack of bite and cutting edge in their attack being one major problem.
But with the departure of Jansson, could the roles now reverse? Could Bielsa find himself having to deal with a problematic defence, rather than an attack that is struggling to finish off the opposition?

That defeat against Derby in the Championship semi-final will sting in the memories of Leeds fans for a long time – Jansson didn’t play in that game, and the mistakes flooded in from the Leeds players.
If that trend continues next season then it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise because losing a player of the quality of Jansson is hard to take and hard to replace.
But in Bielsa, Leeds have a manager that can turn tricky situations around. Plus, with the summer transfer window wide open, they have a chance to find a player that could potentially replace their once maverick defender.
