Leeds striker wants to see the club compete for top signings.
Leeds United’s Chris Wood celebrates
Leeds United striker Chris Wood has called on the club to make an impact in the transfer market this summer.
New Zealand international Wood finished the season as the Championship top scorer and intends to stick around at Elland Road.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post he said he wants to stay, but called on the club to show they mean business this transfer window.
Leeds’ Chris Wood heads in
He said: “This summer is huge. We’ve finished just outside the play-offs and we need to be recruiting well, building for next season.
“It’s going to be a big one. We’ll see what happens.”
Leeds’ Chris Wood… cautiously optimistic
Wood is taking the wait and see approach, at this stage he is willing to be optimistic about what the future holds.
This is with good reason. Leeds are on the verge of a 100 per cent buy out by Italian media mogul Andrea Radrizzani, and there is a sense of optimism they can build to win promotion next season.
There were high hopes in January with Leeds already in a play-off position and they failed to capitalise or invest.
Leeds fans need to hope Radrizzani learned his lesson, because if they cannot show the ambition this transfer window they presently require, they risk losing Wood in 12 months time if he is not convinced they are heading in the right direction.
Over to you Mr Radrizzani…
