Leeds United striker Chris Wood has had 31 shots in his opening seven games for the club.
Leeds United summer signing Chris Wood has had the joint-most shots of any player in the Championship so far this season.
Wood was Leeds’ most expensive summer singing, arriving from Leicester City, and he has wasted no time making an impression at Elland Road.
The powerful front-man is not one to pass up an opportunity to have an attempt on goal, and his total of 31 shots in the first seven matches cannot be beaten by any other player in the second tier.
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tomer Hemed, another new recruit in the summer, and Preston North End’s Joe Garner are the only two players who have kept pace with Wood.
| Team | Shots | Shots on target | Goals | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Joe Garner | Preston | 31 | 25.8% | 0 | 8 | 720 |
| Tommer Hemed | Brighton | 31 | 38.7% | 5 | 8 | 588 |
| Chris Wood | Leeds | 31 | 16.12% | 4 | 8 | 720 |
| Johann Berg Gudmundsson | Charlton | 28 | 35.71% | 2 | 8 | 718 |
| Charlie Austin | QPR | 26 | 34.61% | 6 | 8 | 693 |
If there is one area where the 23-year-old Leeds forward does need to improve, it is with the accuracy of the shooting.
Although the New Zealand international is taking a great volume of efforts on goal, he isn’t hitting the target as frequently as many of his nearest rivals.
It has still been an encouraging start to Wood’s career with the Yorkshire club though, and after netting in their most recent game against Milton Keynes Dons he is rapidly becoming a fans’ favourite at his new club.
