Swansea City are interested in signing Leeds United goal machine Chris Wood after his sensational Championship campaign.
Life without Fernando Llorente doesn’t bare thinking about for Swansea City. The Basque-born targetman may have only arrived at the Liberty Stadium 12 months ago after falling out of favour at Juventus but he wasted no time becoming integral for the Swans in the Premier League.
The former Spanish international’s tally of 15 goals in 28 league games was mightily impressive in his debut season, with crucial strikes in victories against Burnley, Stoke, Everton, Sunderland and West Brom in the final two months of the season ensuring Swansea retained their Premier League status at Hull City’s expense.

However, at the age of 32, Llorente is hardly a long-term plan. No other Swansea striker scored more than one last season and Gylfi Sigurdsson, their second most prolific player on nine, looks likely to join Everton despite The Toffees having bids of £40 and £45 million rejected, as reported by The Guardian.
And Chelsea links with Morata, managed by Llorente’s former Juve coach Antonio Conte, aren’t going away. The Sun claims the Premier League champions want Llorente as back-up to compatriot Alvaro Morata and the fact that he was supposedly keen on a move to Chelsea in January may give Swansea supporters reason to worry.
Therefore, reports in The Mirror that Swansea are considering a move for Leeds United frontman Chris Wood make perfect sense. After all, the New Zealand international was the Championship’s top scorer last season with 27 goals and he is in the form of his life right now.
The report adds that Leeds would demand £20 million for Wood, seemingly the bare minimum price-tag for an in-form striker in today’s market. However, if Swansea were to stump up a club-record fee, they’d sign a forward perfect for England’s top flight and capable of replacing the veteran Llorente.

Swansea have become worryingly over reliant on an exit-linked 30-something. Nabbing Wood could at least rectify that particular issue.
