The Leeds United forward is back to full fitness and raring to go.

Leeds United player Caleb Ekuban has been speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about a conversation he had with his father in reference to a former Whites star.

The Ghanaian followed in the footsteps of his countryman Tony Yeboah in playing at Elland Road, and the 23-year-old admitted the Leeds legend had come up in conversation.

Speaking to Phil Hay, Ekuban admitted that his dad would try to get him to watch and ultimately copy Yeboah, adding, “I’d say, ‘Okay Dad but it’s not that easy’.”

It certainly isn’t, with Yeboah known for his thunderous strikes and quickly sealing a place as a Leeds great. However the summer signing is becoming a fan favourite in his own right and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the months ahead.

Now back to full fitness after suffering a broken foot earlier in the campaign, Ekuban came off the bench against Middlesbrough on Sunday and will be hoping to get more minutes when Leeds fans Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers later this week.

In time Ekuban is expected to get plenty of goals for his new club and, while he may never be as exciting as Yeboah, it is certainly no bad thing if he tries to replicate the former forward’s wonder-strikes now and again.

Leeds’ weekend win ensured they moved back up the table and they will be well and truly back if they can upset Wolves at Molineux on Wednesday evening.
