Leeds United have a massive squad at their disposal this season so who makes their strongest second XI?

Leeds United have gone all out to build a squad capable of earning promotion back to the top flight this season, and as a result even their second XI would be the envy of many Championship sides.

The Whites’ director of football Victor Orta has wasted little time investing new sole owner Andrea Radrizzani’s money into a side with all the hallmarks of future champions, and while there is a very long way to go, Leeds have started the new campaign as they will mean to go on.

Kemar Roofe of Leeds is tackled by Julien De Sart of Derby during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on January 13, 2017 in Leeds, England.

Such is the strength in depth at Leeds right now that last season’s breakout star Ronaldo Vieira is no longer guaranteed a starting berth, while summer signings Mateusz Klich, Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot will have to go all out to earn each and every minute that comes their way.

Arguably the toughest selection is up front, with Caleb Ekuban not even getting into this side despite his promising early performances.

Such is Ekuban’s work rate, he could be the ideal impact substitute, both for the second string and the first-choice XI, and as a result he is left out of this side in favour of Cibicki even though the latter has a lot to prove.

Of all the players below, Kemar Roofe’s presence is likely to cause the most debate, but when everyone is fit and firing at Elland Road it is expected that Pierre-Michel Lasogga will lead the line for Leeds, leaving Roofe to fight for a starting spot elsewhere on the field.

With all that in mind, here is the line-up we feel is Leeds best second XI, although others may well disagree:
