The Leeds United forward could be set for a summer exit after failing to make his mark thus far.

While plenty of Leeds United youngsters have excelled in recent times, some have failed to fulfil their potential, with Eoghan Stokes the perfect example.
Now 21, the Irish forward would have been hoping to have a few appearances for the Whites under his belt by now, along with a successful loan move to further stake his claim.
Instead, he continues to be used in Leeds’ under-23 side, failing to build on his single first-team appearance in the EFL Cup against Newport County back in August.

While Stokes has at least made a breakthrough of sorts at Elland Road, it is hard to see him getting more chances any time soon, especially when you consider Mallik Wilks’ impressive loan spell at Accrington Stanley means he is the young Leeds forward likely to be given chances next season.
The problem for Stokes is that his Leeds contract expires in just a few short months, and while a new deal could well be offered, he will not want to be playing second-string football at 22.

There could be a case for Stokes to be given a chance in the first-team given the disappointing form of some of Leeds’ summer signing. But that seems highly unlikely when you consider manager Thomas Christiansen’s decisions thus far.
If he were scoring for fun at under-23 level, perhaps he could get his opportunity. But one wonders if Stokes’ time at Leeds is quickly and quietly coming to an end.
