Bailey Peacock-Farrell has signed a new two-year contract at Leeds United.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has told Leeds United’s official site that he is hoping that Garry Monk will give him his first-team chance at Elland Road.
Peacock-Farrell has penned a new two-year contract at Leeds, after protracted negotiations with the Yorkshire side.
The 19-year-old originally sought assurances from Leeds before penning a new deal, but after being given the promises he wanted he decided to commit his future.
Peacock-Farrell was reportedly eager to find out who Leeds’ next manager would be, and he also wanted to be ensured of first-team opportunities before committing his future.
“Being with the first-team, not only for training but also for travelling and being a part of it, has been a great experience,” he said.
“All you can ask for is the opportunity to impress. If I get that, then hopefully I’ll be able to take it. I feel ready and hopefully I’ll get a chance.
“I had a great season and hopefully I can build on that and keep making steps forward under the new manager.”
Peacock-Farrell also expressed his delight on social media site Twitter after penning a new deal.
Peacock-Farrell made one first team appearance for Leeds last season, and he impressed as he helped the Whites pick up a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers.
Former Leeds boss Steve Evans has already stated that he believes Peacock-Farrell will have the ability to play in the Premier League in the future.
If Peacock-Farrell is to become Leeds’ first choice stopper he will have to displace Marco Silvestri in Monk’s starting line-up.
Peacock-Farrell will also have the added obstacle of competing against Ross Turnbull next season, as the former Chelsea man is set to return from injury.
