The Middlesbrough winger would be a great short-term addition for Leeds United.
As reported by the BBC earlier today, Middlesbrough are willing to let winger Stewart Downing leave the club on loan this month, and there are likely to be plenty of sides keen on the 32-year-old.
One club who may be wise to consider a bid is Leeds United, with Garry Monk’s side pushing hard for promotion back to the top flight.

The Whites will not want any regrets come May and in Downing they would bring in an experienced player with the ability to play as either a winger or an attacking midfielder.
As well as Leeds are doing right now, a couple of injuries to vital players could derail their hopes, so ensuring they strengthen in key areas this month will be vital.
Downing is said to be reluctant to drop down a level. However Leeds are flying high right now and they could be a project the player is willing to get behind, especially if he could then secure a permanent move to Elland Road next season.

Downing has played the vast majority of his career in the top flight and there are likely to be Premier League clubs interested in adding his experience to their squad.
But if Leeds’ new joint-owner Andrea Radrizzani is looking to make the signings that will secure promotion come May, he could do a lot worse than sit down with the former England international.
