Leeds United have got the better of Watford 1-0 at Elland Road in the Premier League this afternoon.
Diego Llorente’s goal in the 18th minute proved to be the difference between Leeds and Watford today.
The win saw Leeds bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at Elland Road in the league last weekend.
Nigel Martyn was on co-commentary duty for the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and the former Leeds goalkeeper has given his take on the final result.
Martyn said on BBC Radio Leeds (4:55pm, October 2, 2021): “Great result. The performance deserved more, and that will be the only thing that would be slightly disappointing.
“It has been a great performance, the second goal or the third goal would have been perfect.”
Leeds were the better side over the course of the 90 minutes and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter against Watford.
The Whites were brilliant in the first half and should have added to their tally.
Watford did step up their game in the second period, but Leeds did not have any trouble in getting it over the line.
Leeds will be overjoyed with their first win of the season in the Premier League.
It is a very good way to head into the international break.
The mood among the players and the fans will be very positive now.
We should not be surprised if Leeds return from the international break with a spring in their steps and go on a winning run.
