Leeds United academy product Jack Clarke is reportedly attracting the interest of Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds United’s Jack Clarke is seemingly heading ever closer to sealing a switch to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Express have claimed that Tottenham are closing in on a £15 million deal for the Leeds academy product, who will be loaned back, and if that’s true then the Yorkshire club are learning from their past mistakes.
In years gone by, Leeds have produced a plethora of high-quality players from their academy, from Lewis Cook to Ronaldo Vieira. But one mistake they have constantly made is selling them too early and not getting enough out of the player for their own benefit.
In this case, yes Clarke is seemingly heading to Tottenham at the tender age of 18, but the fact that Leeds may loan him back proves that they ensuring they get the best possible deal for themselves, something they didn’t use to do before.
This type of deal could work wonders for Leeds because if Clarke produces the goods next season at Elland Road then it’ll increase their chances of earning promotion to the Premier League.
If he struggles then Tottenham will more than likely want him to spend more time in the English Football League, which would suit Leeds because he would more than likely return back to Elland Road and they would be in a win-win situation.
Simply put, the likes of Delph, Taylor and Cook, to name a few, left far too early from Leeds’ perspective and they can’t afford for that pattern to continue.
