Leeds United youngster Eoghan Stokes netted the winner for the Republic of Ireland’s under-19 side.
He scored the only goal in 1-0 goal over Malta, in a European Championships qualifying match.
The Football Association of Ireland’s (FAI) website described his goal as follows: “Stokes turned home from close range after connecting sweetly with a brilliant left wing cross from Ryan Manning.”
The teenager took to Twitter after the win to comment after his match-winning strike:
Stokes’ Ireland side have another very winnable game at the weekend when they host minnows Gibraltar.
He has featured for Leeds under-21 side under Neil Redfearn’s management previously, and turns 19 later this November.
Stokes is a striker, and netted in the club’s FA Youth Cup run last season. The goal against Malta is the third he has scored for Ireland’s under-19 side this season.
